The Breakdown
This year marked a major lifestyle change for me: I went from "occasional workout guy" to "completed a couple of triathlons and now swimming, biking, running and cross training is a normal routine" guy. Thanks to my trusty Garmin Fenix 3 training watch and Garmin Connect, I've got a year's worth of data to look back on. So I thought it would be fun to recap 2015 – by the numbers.
309
Total training sessions logged in 2015.
201.5
Total hours spent on swim, bike, run and cross training sessions.
181,031
Total calories burned from training and race activity.
898.8
Total miles traveled from swimming, biking and running.
2
Triathlons completed.
1
New addiction.
Things I Thought I'd Never Own
The 2015 recap wouldn't be complete without a list of things I now have thought I'd never own (most of which are in the 'ungodly clothing' arena). So, here are the top 5 WTF items of 2015....
#5 - A Wetsuit
I mean...I didn't swim, I didn't surf, I'm not a Navy Seal... So why the hell would I ever think I'd own a wetsuit??
#4 – Multiple Speedos
Granted, jammers aren't quite as bad as the 'overweight Italian guy on the beach' kind of Speedos one thinks of when they hear the word. But still...it took some serious getting used to wearing these at a public pool.
#3 – A Collection Of Bikes
I went from a basic mountain bike that I've had for 5 years to adding two new bikes to my collection (for a total of 3) – all within the span of 5 months. I'm now the owner of a mountain bike, a recreation bike and a racing bike. (I'm now also several thousand dollars poorer).
#2 – Running Tights
Not only did I have to get used to running along the main thoroughfares in town for all to see, I often had to do it wearing TIGHTS to stay warm. This most definitely took some getting used to.
#1 – Bike Shorts, Jersey & Shoes
Hands down, the number 1 thing I never ever thought would be in my possession is a full blown cycling outfit. I don't care if you look like Brad Pitt from fight club, nobody...and I mean NOBODY...looks cool wearing cycling gear. What the hell has happened to me...
So what's in store for 2016?
I don't even know what I'm doing on New Years Eve, much less what my life goals will be in 2016. Stay tuned...I'm sure I'll think of something (and will most certainly annoy you about it on the blog).
Happy New Year, everybody!
